Rococo style is also known as ‘late baroque’ style originated when the baroque artists started using more ornamentation and florid designs and became more playful unlike following symmetry that they did before. This style originated in around mid 18th century in France.
A commode is a low cabinet or a chest of drawers normally at the height of the dado rail. There are various types of commodes made and rococo style is one of the most popular ones among all. In the French rococo style, the commodes have a straight back. The twisting front and the sides meet at pointed corners and these junctions have a brass covering over them.
The design of the commode is very simple, yet special as the number and position of the drawers are hidden under the veneer and the ornamentation done in bronze. These coverings make it difficult to identify the edges and hence the drawers seem to be obscured.
